How does one get into the animation field?
I want to be able to create my own cartoons eventually. I love the unique worlds such as Cowboy Bebop, or Aeon Flux… and I want to know how to get a job like that.

I graduated from art college several years ago. AAC in the bayarea. If you don’t know anyone who’s in animation field, you can try to present your idea and art work to the teachers in art school. Most of teachers in my school are not professional educator but professional artist. Such as most teachers who is teaching animation may from the big film company. Some of them fly from LA to give us class everyweek.
I thought you may start from their if you go some good stuff. But if you really got some great stuff, be careful with who you deal with. We had sign the contract that all our works belong to school when we were. I have known there some teachers keep student’s idea become their own…

Fantasia Beaten In The French Guineas…What Was Wrong…?
So Fantasia could only finish 3rd in todays french guineas…qith frankie pressing the button for her to go 2 furlongs out..she couldnt find the pace of that in the Nell Gwyn stakes…what happened to her as she looked in a perfect position to go on and win?

Also what happened with Vocalised in the french 2000 guineas,i heard he got a bit jumpy going into the stalls but hes won his last 3 races before today so what went wrong?
I feel now there will be a lot of discussion over why Luca Cumani didnt send her for the english guineas, where she may of performed better having already run on the course just a few weeks before,David, there must of been something, she was an amazing filly last season and this is her first defeat in 6 starts,I agree tommy maybe it is something to do with not being 2 y.o’s and yes why didnt Bolger send Intense Focus anywhere,is there something we dont know or is he saving this horse for something big.

Maybe the 2yo form wasn’t as strong as we all felt with rainbow view and now fantasia been well beaten

Vocalised only ran 7 days ago was way too early for him to race again have to wonder why Bolger didn’t race Intense Focus in any guineas after winning the dewhurst

Tommy2cans | May 10, 2009

No horse is ever guaranteed to win a race, that’s why people bet on them.
Bill M | May 10, 2009

what was wrong ? they simply wasnt good enough and thats the bottom line no excuses
David G | May 10, 2009

Fantasia should have run at Newmarket. French races can always be tricky. They tend to race at a slower tempo and you don’t always get a true pace.
George Stawbridge deserves what he got. He bought Fantasia to get rid of the 1000 Guineas opposition but it backfired on him, and his expectation that he’d pick up an easy Group 1 in France for Fantasia has also blown up in his face.
Sir Alan | May 10, 2009

Yes I’m tending to agree with Sir Alan here. Having backed Fantasia at 20-1 for the English Guineas after she won her maiden at Newmarket in July (Respite 2nd)…and she has been beaten Kezza I think you’re getting her muddled with Rainbow View regarding being unbeaten this is her 5th race and she has now been beaten twice once by Rainbow View.

I remember Ed Dunlop had two fillies some time back Lailani and Mot Juste and they were both very close in ability. They ran in the same races and Lailani always got the better of dear little Mot Juste and went on to win the Irish Oaks and the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf…but both fillies were given the chance to compete against each other, which Rainbow View and Fantasia have not and I believe that has now backfired badly on George Strawbridge. He could have had at least one classic under his belt and at the present he has none.

Zarkava was champion in her own country but she never ever left it, so how do we really know how good she could have been.

If Fantasia doesn’t travel, we can forgive her this run. I think the Coronotaion Cup, Ascot will suit her to a tee, as for Rainbow View look for a much better run at Epsom and on softer ground. It’s still too early to judge these young fillies… by Ascot we will know…Jac x

Could someone please mark this English description for me, I really need a second opinion.?
We had to describe something, I chose a garden. To get the higher marks we needed to change the mood at some point. My grade stays the same with this piece, could someone, preferably someone who has taught GCSE English, give me a grade and their opinions. This is now my sixth draft and I have put so many hours in and can’t improve.

In the midst of a beryl landscape, surrounded by rolling hills, lies a cherished paradise. Ostracized from the hub of day to day life, this sanctuary is thriving in isolation. From all corners, sounds radiate like ripples on a pond: twittering robins, rustling leaves, the whistling of wind. Altogether they flood the garden with sweet, mellifluous music. Listening to the melodies are the gargantuan trees, adorned with a dappled amber glow; branches entwine like D.N.A strands to form a sturdy ledge for creatures in need of a rest; complementing their stay are ripe fruits which are there to take as one desires. To attract the wildlife, an extravagant coat of emerald greenery adorns by the mighty protectors.
Positioned on the borders, an array of cerulean, cerise and crimson shades thrive, resembling a stain glass window. Cascading along the perimeter, grand roses stand proud: guards to their territory. Behind the roses, the centre of this arrangement is enriched with vibrant pansies; these privates, although bottom of the hierarchy, are ready to assist the roses in fending off all threats to the harmony of the flowerbed. On the outskirts, daisies are on a constant lookout for danger, ready to alert their companions. Other vegetation congregates so close together that a canopy is formed; insects soon take advantage of this and change the area to their liking by constructing homes and harvesting the available supplies.
A fluent stream composes melodies for the creatures it houses. On the water

how do you enjoy the full moon?
I wrap my kids up in blankets outside and make up moon stories. hilarious when they go ..yeah right dad!

My dad would wake me up with come see the moon and tell me tales of sputnik and the man on the moon and how people used to think it was actually made out of cheese. Now i teach my kids those stories and thanks to nightskygirl’s telescope expertise i ordered a couple of 6 inch made for kids orion telescopes and teach them about the craters of the moon.

I told them Abbott & Costello are still on Mars and they believed me!

Full Moon is the night which i called "Lucky Night"
Cause it has enough light that can protect us from the dark, but they say that when it is full moon there are monsters, but i don’t believe it.

1. F ("god" is energy of some sort. I do not refer to "god" as him, I use "He/She/It" He/she/it is deistic to me)

2. F (As I said maybe some form of energy, undefinable)

3. A combination of A, C and a deistic view of a "creator"

4. F (Again energy that may exist in everything or ceased to exist after the big bang)

5. D but not completely. Some morals are almost always fixed, but I think D is best here.

6. F The "energy/deity/ god" who started the big bang does not judge or hold anyone accountable. Karma is partially true, but generally no judgment by any supernatural forces.

7. F I think life might begin in 3rd trimester but it is not as valuable as after birth

Pineapple Express
Pineapple Express (2008)

IMDB rating: 7.60

Plot: Lazy stoner Dale Denton has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city’s most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him. And it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they’re not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia; incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.

Hetero, Homo and Bisexuality?
(Depending on the answers I get, I guess I’m either just an overtly curious teenager or a glutton for punishment.)

I usually stay out of most ‘wars’ like this, but there’s been many debates on sexuality centering around the idea that it’s in your genetics and not a personal choice at all.

I have to disagree. It may be true for some that they just weren’t interested in the opposite sex, but it doesn’t mean it’s in your genetics. If I disliked a certain genre of movie (ahem, old western movies), that doesn’t mean it’s in my genetics.

But that’s a frivolous explanation, so I’ll use myself as an example.

I like men. I like women. Hell, I’ll even love a brain in a jar as long as it can strike up a fun conversation. That is to say–I don’t base my liking of someone on sexual attraction. This was a personal choice, because while I understood that sex was a large part of relationships, I would be much more inclined to LOVE someone if they’re a good person. I dislike certain men and women so much that I’d never come near them with a ten foot pole even if they are hot. So, I had to think on whether I would be able to have a life-long relationship with someone that I loved, despite gender (or even trans-gender), and I said yes.

So, I ask… your view? Is sexual orientation in your genetics or is it a personal choice? The above is just an opinion. An opinion of a sex-depraved teenager who really finds no use in it besides being reproductive in an already over-populated world. (Despite partner decision, adoption for me, yeeeeeeeeah.)

(And please, if you’re going to hate on anyone just leave. You’re a sorry excuse for a human, you really should fix your grammar, and we’ve heard it all before. kthxbai.)

I have to agree that it is a hot debate, but this kind of fits into the topic of basic psychology. There are many views to look at any behavior. One of these views is the biological perspective which basically means "its in the genes." So sometimes it seems absurd to say that a behavior is influence by genetics, but it is possible. So like it is possible that one’s biological structure can very easily influence someone’s orientation. And just to put the point out there, it is actually possible to be genetically coded to like a specific genre of movie. (Goes into that a little more here … http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavioral_ neuroscience )

And to answer the second part of the question is it a personal choice? I dont think it is. I really did not choose at all to be gay and a lot of people will be the same way. Just having to admit to yourself and even to others can be a painful process that i dont think anybody should have to endure. Sure, every case is different so it might be easier for some, but that doesnt mean that the one’s who had it harder got a chance to choose. So i dont believe it is a choice either.

But to add a third part to it, is it what your exposed to as a child that can influence it. I honestly believe that there can be some truth behind that. Its not a choice to be raised in a particular way, so you cant fault someone for it either. But you can notice some correlation between different people that recognize themselves as a particular orientation and what they were exposed to as a child. We do learn the most as a child, after all.

So to sum it all up, what is MY opinion? ummm…i dont know. ^_^ Im gay and thats ok with me. I dont care how i got here. haha.

I hope this helped. feel free to ask me any questions.

lol you’re weird.. you need to be dispossed of on an island.. gtfo out go to cali and have your gay parade
MurtM | Feb 09, 2010

Who you "like" has little to do with sexual attraction in your example. When it comes to preferring one gender over the other in terms of sexual attraction, I would say it’s mostly genetics, with some elements of environment and choice. But that’s just my opinion.

In high school, I knew a guy who was gay. He was raised Christian and was afraid that he was going to hell because of it. He denied it for years, and when he finally realized he couldn’t fight it anymore, he felt so ashamed that he tried to kill himself. He went into a mental institution for a year. When he finally got out, he was much happier and healthier because he could finally quit lying to himself and others. In some people it is a choice, but I firmly believe that others have no choice. They are what they are. Why would someone choose the life that would put them through so much hell like my friend went through?
Spex | Feb 09, 2010

My sexual orientation? I couldn’t really say it was my choice OR in my genetics. Growing up around a lot of Caribbeans I learnt that being gay is NOT acceptable at all! Stuff like Bun Out Da Chi Chi (Burn the gays) and Boom Bye Bye has scared me into me being the way I am (Straight). I don’t have a problem with gays (got a lesbian friend. She’s the best!) but I don’t think I could ever have those sort of feelings for another woman.
Soy Boricua Como El Coqui | Feb 09, 2010

I believe to an extent, it’s not a choice. There are so many chemicals and such that cause you to feel love that to think you can control it is absured. Whether you act on it or not, though, is a choice.
Jonathan | Feb 09, 2010

Sexual orientation depends on a person’s genetics and environmental influences. This brings up the arguement of nature vs. nurture. Was it the child’s genetics that influences his orientation, or was it the environmental (social) surroundings? The answer to this is: both. How the child was conditioned during his/her sensitive period by his surroundings (i.e. parents, classmates), and his genetics are all implicated. It’s relatively difficult to draw the line between the two.

It isn’t a choice for me; I’m only attracted to men. I could have a very close emotional relationship with a woman, but I would never want to sleep with her. Are you sexually attracted to boys or girls? That forms the basis of your sexuality. Friendships can be very strong but sex is what separates the two.
Rob | Feb 09, 2010

I don’t know if it’s genetic or personal preference, but liking and willing to have sex with someone is completely different! I like men and women… but NOT in a sexual way. I would never in a million years sleep with a woman. That’s by choice or genetic, either way it will never happen. You’re example is just infantile.
Sophie | Feb 09, 2010

I used to think that homosexuality was a choice. I thought that gay people made their decisions to be the way they were. I was raised very strict Southern Baptist and was told from the first time I knew what gay was that they were wrong and disgusting. I didnt really date in high school but I blamed it on waiting for the "right one". Then I met an amazing woman and fell head over heels for her. I tried for months to deny it; say that it was just her and that I wasnt a lesbian. I cried for weeks because I didnt want to be a lesbian. I eventually admitted to myself that I was a lesbian and that I was ok with that. Ive only come out to certain friends and family because when my family finds out they will disown me completely.

Now you tell me what in my childhood wouldve conditioned me to be gay? Where was my choice? If I wouldve had a choice I wouldve chosen no. Not to say that Im not happy being a lesbian I just wouldve taken the easiest path. Sexual orientation is NOT a choice.
newmetj | Feb 09, 2010

I’m bisexual. Both of my parents are straight, and so were their parents. This would, in theory, mean that my sexuality is a "mutation". And I do not believe that at all because I have pride in who and what I am, so I think it’s more to do with personal choice.

Me and my best friend always argue about this. He’s full-on gay, and extremely camp. It was always a problem for him, growing up in a Catholic family. His religion meant that homosexuality was a sin, and now he therefore cannot bring himself to believe in any God. It wasn’t a choice for him, though. For as long as I can remember, he’s wanted to wear make-up, coach dancing and he is completely repulsed by the idea of being anything more than friends with a girl. His family are homophobic, and completely ashamed of him. He says himself that if it was personal choice, he’d keep them happy- but also that he is what he is and he’ll never hide it.

It’s a tricky one…

Oh, and to the guy who posted the first comment?
