If Bush and Cheney were so great at leading the fight against Islamic extremist why did they let Pakistan ?
provide safe harbor to the Taliban and Al Qaeda for years.
As promised during his campaign on Oct. 15, 2009, President Barack Obama signed into law a bill that will provide $7.5 billion in additional aid to Pakistan over the next five years with the conditions Pakistan demonstrated a sustained commitment to and is making significant efforts towards combating terrorist groups including:
Ceasing support, including by any elements within the Pakistan military or its intelligence agency, to extremist and terrorist groups, particularly to any group that has conducted attacks against United States or coalition forces in Afghanistan, or against the territory or people of neighboring countries."
Preventing al Qaida, the Taliban and associated terrorist groups, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, from operating in the territory of Pakistan, including carrying out cross-border attacks into neighboring countries, closing terrorist camps in the FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Area), dismantling terrorist bases of operations in other parts of the country, including Quetta and Muridke, and taking action when provided with intelligence about high-level terrorist targets."
(I think we have been seeing the results for the past few months.)

We have seen some results in the past few months. Now there is some confusion as to whether the American captured in Pakistan was actually Adam Gadahn.

Because Pakistan has Nuclear bombs and at that time they had a really decent President- who was forced out after Obama won for some reason- probably because he didn’t like Obama much.

The Bush/Cheney Wars were all about oil and Haliburton contracts. They had no intention on defeating al Queda as long as they were making a profit. Both should be tried for treason.

Oh i see. So The only way for Pakistan to help is for Obama to bribe them with our tax dollars. Yeah, this argument is flawed.

….The US has been working closely with Pakistan since 2001 in fighting the Taliban and Al Queda. Like the previous answer says. This question lacks intellectual merit.

In other words youve given Bush two no-win choices:
1.) Invade Pakistan and claim Bush invaded a country that never attacked us.
or…
2.) Dont invade and claim Bush let them get away with it.
Brilliant.

The US is not a dictatorship. Bush and Cheney didn’t let anything. Once democrats took over congress, the war on terror was lost. Now that we have a socialist prez, congress is re-thinking the war on terror in order to make obama look like he is actually good for something,

You ask why did Mr Cheney allow Islamic extremist in Pakistan. What more would you propose he should have done? Invaded them? Look he got them to fight on our side………….you really…….. with this child like mind set there is no reason to go any farther

When you fully considered that diplomacy is a two way street and thought about what was going on in Pakistan prior Obama’s Presidency, including a state of emergency, the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, and the 2008 elections, is this what you concluded?
While I am delighted we are moving forward, this is the question of someone who has omitted Pakistan from his thought process.
